A great day was had by all at Sotby Shoot ran by Carl. It is an impressive piece of kit producing fantastic high simulated clay birds giving you an insight into shooting real game if you have not done so before. It can be tailored for all levels of shooting. Also to help the day run socially and smoothly Karen produced a lovely spread of nibbles, fizz and sloe gin. Thank you again. Regards Stuart

Kugae clay simulator is such a good way to bring people together in the summer months when the season is over. A great way to spend with family & friends or even meeting new people. It is located in a perfect setting surround by trees and ponds. The traps of clays were coming over the top of the trees to get the true experience of a driven bird drive. They certainly was challenging to shoot! The team were moving from each peg to get a good variety of the clays, it worked well.
We were provided with nibbles and refreshments and the most welcoming hosts to have, I will certainly be doing it again either there or potentially hire and use on our home ground!

We both thoroughly enjoyed the simulated shoot day, lots of laughs and the hospitality was outstanding. The pegs were well thought out, with positions to make for some very challenging birds. The rotation of pegs and the ability to slow down or speed up the clays suited all abilities. The traps are expertly programmed and positioned to provide the same randomness of a real flush so you never know what’s coming next which just adds to the authenticity of the shoot. With the unique trailer and lift system the traps can be re-positioned and adjusted for height very quickly to change the way the flushes are presented. It’s great that you are allowed to take trained dogs, which allowed novice dogs to experience guns and for those of us with gundogs who have just finished a season it’s perfect for their continued steadiness training. We highly recommend Kugae gundogs simulated shoot day and would like to say a huge thank you to Carl and Karen for a perfect day. 5 Stars. Get booking everyone.

Myself and partner had the most amazing day with Carl & Karen at Kugae Gundogs, using their new simulated clay shooting machine. The variety was fantastic, simulating a wide range of “birds”. The hospitality was perfect, safety was paramount and you were made to feel very relaxed. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to give shooting a go just brilliant!

Second time we have been to Carl’s 1st visit was a great day 2nd visit was yet another cracking day, Between the four guns and Carl himself We had some great shooting and the dogs worked there socks off, woodland hedge backs and dykes along with the obligatory beet fields, a great test for us all, The one thing any of the four guns can’t speak more highly about , Is just how your made to feel so welcome and the banter we have is first class , Karen is the perfect hostess, and I have to say the soup is to die for, And in testimony of how great a day it was The same four of us have booked another date in January , Thanks Carl and Karen

We went to Carl with our 8 month Fox Red Lab. We’d bought her to train to be a Gundog but were lost with all the different advice, books and internet information. Nothing was working, she pulled, wouldn’t recall and was distracted by everything. After 10 minutes Carl had her attention and she was glued to his side, waiting patiently for his next command. His manner is calm, consistent, concise and clear. Perfect combination. I’m happy to say that Meg is now 11 months, steady, keen and attentive. Carl has trained us more than her and we have a clear direction and confidence to continue training our dog. I couldn’t recommend Kugae Dogs, Carl and Karen strongly enough.

I came to Carl with my young Labrador who was pretty much out of control. We concentrated on heel work & discipline and after a few one to one sessions the issue was resolved. I can now take Douglas beating with me to shoots and we both have a great day out together.

Pippa – My lab is a picking-up dog and I wanted her to learn to work with my new pup. We came in for weekly hour-long sessions in the field with Carl. Pippa is now trained to an excellent standard. I would recommend Carl without a doubt. He excels as a dog trainer.

Remi – At 8 months old this headstrong bitch Lab retriever lost all recall and obedience, after being attacked by another dog. Again, following regular sessions with Carl, he has turned Remi at 19 months old into something very special and she is just started her first season in the field working with Pippa. I couldn’t be prouder of my girls with these results as they work perfectly for me on a walked-up rough shoot day.
